One Born Every Minute...
One Born Every Minute, And Two To Take Him
We've all heard of the saying that "There's one born every minute" but there is also an additional part of this saying that few mention, in that "There's one born every minute, and two to take him". I was reminded of this saying on the 7th of June 2019 when I read an article in the Edinburgh Evening News entitled £179.99 Kanye West Yeezy trainers sell out in minutes at Edinburgh Princes Street Foot Locker.
The article informs us how from around 9:30pm the day before people started queuing outside a Foot Locker shop on Princes Street, hoping to be the first to grab hold of a pair of trainers called the Yeezy Boost 350 V2, priced at £179.99. Yes, that is not a typo and a penny off £180.
Apparently Kayne West is an American rapper - I only know this after looking the guy up on Wikipedia after reading this article.
The Edinburgh Foot Locker shop manager stated that all of their stock of the £180/pair shit-looking trainers had sold out within 45 minutes of the shop opening the following day at 8am.
Unreal. A £10 pair of trainers probably made somewhere like China or Taiwan and excessively priced so as to feed the idea that they are a must have, and must be worth every penny at their £180 tag.
Proof that some people just have more money than sense and that there is one born every minute and two to take him or her.
