AVG - The Once Good Trashed by Greed

AVG - The Once Good Trashed by Greed

I remember the early days of the Antivirus Group (AVG). It was a group of computer guys and developers with the noble idea of providing a free anti-virus piece of software. For several years I stuck with them, until they were took over by the business world and greed got the better of them.

Today, I have an old laptop that still has AVG's software installed on it, and I get more spam from the AVG tool than anything else. You couldn't make it up. A piece of software whose goal is to eliminate viruses, malware and spam and ends up infecting my machine more than anything else.

How to trash a once great product into what now is a piece of shit. There is no better example than AVG of how business can trash your product and reputation.

I'm not the only one to have noticed this and see on the AVG Wikipedia page numerous references to the AVG piece of spam. Once installed it is virtually impossible to remove - more difficult than a virus! What kind of organisation designs a piece of software so that it can't be removed? What kind of organisation designs a piece of software to have a desktop popup every few seconds on startup begging you to pay for more of their nonsense?

AVG - take my advice and stay well clear.
