COVID-19 and the Mince Pie Theory

After nearly 2 years of extensive research, I have this theory about the origins of COVID-19.

Have you noticed that when the first mince pies hit the supermarket shelves towards the end of September, the number of new cases of COVID-19 start to increase. They continue to steadily increase towards the festive season, but once we hit mid-January and all of the unsold and out of date boxes of mince pies start vanishing from the shelves, COVID-19 starts to dissipate.

I tried submitted by theory to the Lancet but it failed to pass the peer review process. I still can't see why as all of the empirical data is freely available for anyone to correlate, double check and see that I am right. I mean - you'd think I was making this up!
