University of Edinburgh's "decolonisation" of the curriculum

An interesting article in The Register that discusses how Edinburgh University is undertaking a "decolonisation" of the material it allows its lecturers to deliver:

Computer scientists at University of Edinburgh contemplate courses without 'Alice' and 'Bob', The Register, 15th of October 2021.

The names Alice and Bob were used to represent two users of a public key cryptography system, described in a 1978 paper by Ronald Rivest, Adi Shamir, and Leonard Adleman, "A Method for Obtaining Digital Signatures and Public-Key Cryptosystems". Since then the names of Alice and Bob have been used for describing various communications protocols.

However, this is now considered unacceptable and too "colonial". Absolute nonsense of course.

Its like saying that Newton's 3 laws of motion should be renamed to Ahktar laws of motion. Not because Ahktar (a non-person in this case) had anything to do with the development of the laws but simply because the surname Newton is considered too White. The people behind this bullshit are simpletons and inadvertently rewriting history and creating a falsity.

What I find interesting is how the names of Alice and Bob are considered to be one of colonisation. There are non-Whites using the names of Alice and Bob, but in certain cases they are considered to be pure White. That is the lie.

Shown below is Edinburgh's law school buildings. Are we to now say that looks a bit too "colonial" and bulldoze it down? Let's be consistent in what we do, otherwise the shit floats to the top.
